Nikon D3X Digital SLR
Nikon D3X - Digital SLR
The Nikon D3X is the flagship Nikon DSLR and at the moment probably the best digital camera available. It has a 24.5-megapixel FX-format (35.9 x 24.0mm) CMOS sensor and features Nikon EXPEED image processing technologies, Two Live View shooting modes, ISO 50-6400, 5 fps at full FX-format resolution continuous shooting, 3D Color Matrix Metering II with Scene Recognition System, 51-point AF system, 100% viewfinder coverage, Rugged, durable and precise magnesium-alloy construction, Up to 4,400 images per battery charge, Dual CF card slots with overflow, backup and copy options, and 3-inch super-density 920,000-dot VGA LCD monitor.
It has been generally well-received by independent reviewers, despite its $8000 price tag, although you can buy it for much less. The D3X at the moment produces the highest image quality of any 35mm dslr camera with stunning resolution and image detail, considered by many to be better than the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III. According to Nikon the D3x is a competitor to medium-format cameras, a claim which is supported by testing and by many D3x users. However D3X performs worse than the D3 in terms of frame rate and high ISO performance.
It will soon have new competition however in the form of the Leica S2 which is due in October and will feature a 37.5 megapixel sensor for the not inconsiderable sum of $23,000 without a lens (lenses will cost around an extra $5000).
